How MES Reduced Its Carbon Footprint by 69% in 2024!

Committed to a Greener Future

At MES, sustainability is more than just a corporate responsibility—it’s a core commitment to the planet and future generations. As part of our ongoing mission to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, we have taken decisive action to decarbonize our global operations.

One significant step in this journey has been our partnership with a global industrial technology leader through their Zero Carbon Project. As one of their top 1,000 suppliers, we embraced the opportunity to contribute to a net-zero future.

After four years of dedicated efforts and with a target to reduce C02e by 50% by 2025, we are proud to announce that MES has achieved a 69.3% reduction in carbon emissions, earning a CO2 reduction certificate as recognition of our progress.

The MES Carbon Reduction Project: A Four-Year Journey

Our path to decarbonization has involved a multi-pronged strategy focused on energy efficiency, operational optimizations, and sustainable partnerships. By aligning our carbon reduction efforts with those of our customers, suppliers, and vendors, we have created a ripple effect across our industry.

Carbon Reduction Achievements (2020-2024)

By the Numbers

  • 69.3% – Overall reduction in CO2 emissions intensity per unit of sale
  • 84 metric tons – Scope 1 (direct GHG emissions) in 2024, compared to 58 metric tons in 2020
  • 2.4 metric tons – Scope 2 (indirect GHG emissions) in 2024, compared to 181 metric tons in 2020

Sustainability Initiatives: How We Achieved It

To make meaningful progress in reducing our carbon footprint, MES implemented a range of sustainability initiatives, including:

  • Energy surveys and audits – Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify areas for energy conservation.
  • Enterprise-wide carbon management policies – Standardizing sustainability-focused procedures across all operations.
  • Lighting and HVAC optimization – Upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting and optimizing HVAC systems for minimal energy waste.
  • Package efficiency planning – Reducing the number of shipments by optimizing container capacity and minimizing forklift operations.
  • Waste reduction and recycling programs – Expanding efforts to repurpose materials and reduce landfill waste.
  • Employee training and engagement – Encouraging a culture of sustainability through awareness and training programs.

Looking Ahead: Building a Sustainable Future

While we celebrate our progress, MES recognizes that sustainability is a continuous journey, not a one-time achievement. The pressing global climate challenges require businesses to remain proactive, adaptable, and committed to ongoing innovation. That is why we are dedicated to refining our strategies, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, and fostering strong collaborations to drive meaningful change.

Our next steps include:

  • Advancing smart manufacturing – Implementing automation and data-driven insights to improve energy efficiency.
  • Reducing reliance on fossil fuels – Transitioning to renewable energy sources across our global supply chain.
  • Strengthening partnerships for sustainability – Collaborating with vendors and suppliers who share our environmental commitment.
  • Ensuring full transparency – Continuously monitoring, reporting, and refining our sustainability initiatives.
