MES Supports Local Charities During National Volunteer Month
April is National Volunteer Month, but with COVID-19 restrictions, many volunteer organizations have canceled in-person opportunities or stricken in-person volunteer opportunities. So how do you continue with your corporate philanthropy and supporting your local communities during a global pandemic? Here at MES, we believe in supporting those in need and giving back to our local communities, especially during times like these. While many of our local charities closed in-person events, we continue to find ways to give back. One of those ways was supporting the PBJ Helpers of Columbus. An organization that helps the food insecure, homeless and addicted in Columbus, Ohio. They support the Jordan Rieser Legacy Foundation’s ongoing needs, including sandwiches, cookies, materials, and donations for the community.
Our team spent an afternoon making PBJ sandwiches for the charity, which turned out to be a fantastic team bonding event. Several assembly stations were set up for the employees, including one for peanut butter spreading, jelly spreading, packaging sandwiches into individual baggies, and placing wrapped sandwiches into overpack boxes for transportation. Sandwiches were immediately dropped off at PBJ Helpers to dropped off at a local food shelter the following day. Another excellent volunteer event our team participated in this month was helping the YWCA.
